Philip Dadson is an instrument inventor and sound, video, and performance artist. He was the founder of From Scratch, New Zealand's most original rhythm/performance group. His solo performances and exhibitions include sound and intermedia performance, installations, music compositions, graphic scores, video and short films, sound sculptures, sound-stories, and improvisations on invented instruments.
He has recently appeared at Artspace, Sydney; World WideVideo Festival, Amsterdam; WhiteNoise, HongKong; LeteBar, Tokyo; NOWNOW Festival, Sydney; Sound Cultures, Tokyo and San Francisco; and Festival of Experimental Musical Instruments, Brisbane. He has recently performed a solo tour in Europe and Japan. His honors include the New Zealand Arts Foundation Artist Laureate and Antarctic Artist Fellowship.
