  New Adventures in Sound Art
Organisation 1998 -
  Toronto Canada
New Adventures in Sound Art is a non-profit organization that produces performances and installations spanning the entire spectrum of electroacoustic and experimental sound art. Through workshops, lectures, and demonstrations that teach a new perception of sound, New Adventures in Sound Art offers the opportunity to educate artists and audiences both locally and abroad. New Adventures in Sound Art now offers four series through the year. Sound Travels has grown from two European tours, residencies and concerts across Canada to an annual outdoor summer concert event on Toronto Island. Deep Wireless is a festival of Radio Art in the spring with performances, workshops, broadcasts and other special events. In the fall is SOUNDplay an annual series that puts sound at center stage in the context of visual images and words. And finally, Sign Waves is an ongoing series of site-specific sound installations. New Adventures in Sound Art has produced two educational booklets on radio art and installation sound art. There are plans in the works for more booklets - pick up a free copy at one of our workshops or seminars! The Artistic Director of New Adventures in Sound Art is Darren Copeland. Our Mandate New Adventures in Sound Art (NAISA) strives to present audio experiences that encourage new forms of listening. NAISA seeks to educate its audience and artists by exposing them to the entire spectrum of innovative sound art and sound technologies, including work in a variety of artistic disciplines. Annual Events Art's Birthday - NAISA participates in this annual international exchange-art event on January 17th to celebrate the birthday of Art with performances and live broadcasts. Deep Wireless festival - a celebration of radio and transmission art. Sign Waves exhibitions - interactive sound and media installations that happen throughout the year. Sound Travels festival - annual summer Toronto Island event that includes indoor & outdoor performances, installations and concerts. SOUNDplay festival - a meeting point for experimentation in new media and sound art encouraging new fusions of image, sound and text. Acceseed 12.08.2009 from http://naisa.ca/about.html
