In August 1982 the participants of the second 'Workshop: Experimentelle Musik' at Schloss Gnadenthal in Cleves/Lower Rhine had their first public performance under the name of 'Das Heinrich-Mucken-Saalorchester'. The name later on was reduced to 'Heinrich Mucken'. By the way 'Heinrich' was just how we called some rubber mask someone brought in, and 'Mucken' was what we were doing: trying to make music, sounds and noises, performing strange and behaving naughty.
We were Claus van Bebber, Karl van Betteraey, Paul Hubweber, Helmut Lemke, Dieter Schlensog, Henning Schweichel, Hans-Wilhelm Specht, Michael Vorfeld and a few others.
Spring next Year saw the foundation of 'NURNICHTNUR Kunst- und Musikproduktion', a label with the task of producing, promoting and distributing the mostly live recordings of 'Heinrich Mucken', its subgroups, single members and a few friends. |
